*Butch Vig turns 54. Producer of such amazing works as Nirvana's "Nevermind" and Foo Fighters "Wasting Light" and drummer for the awesome band Garbage.

*Lee Mavers turns 49. He is the guitarist and vocalist for the now defunct English band, The La's. You may think you don't know that band, but I bet you do. Just listen to this track.

*The #1 single today in 1986 was "Glory of Love" by Peter Cetera from the Karate Kid II soundtrack. Man, I remember that summer and how popular that movie was and I loved this song. Now, I have to admit that his voice kinda wears on me, but it still sparks nostalgia nonetheless. Click here to watch the video on YouTube if you wanna.

Touring with Tonya™

Today in Music History 8/1

On August 1, 1981, at 12:01 a.m., MTV launched.

The first video was by The Buggles called "Video Killed the Radio Star". (Edit: such a shame there is very little music left on MTV today.)

In response to the above video and my comment, I leave this here for you, because it is true:

Born Today: Jerry Garcia (Grateful Dead), Joe Eilliott (Def Leppard), Chuck D (Public Enemy), Coolio and Adam Duritz (Counting Crows).
