No Doubt Announces Summer Tour!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

From the Official No Doubt website:
No Doubt Announces 2009 Summer Tour With Special Guest Paramore (The Sounds, Janelle Monae and Bedouin Soundclash To Support on Select Dates)

LOS ANGELES, CA – Grammy-winning rock band No Doubt announced plans for their 2009 summer tour today.

The band will launch their highly anticipated tour this May, playing outdoor amphitheaters and arenas throughout the summer. Singer Gwen Stefani said, “The whole reason for going on this tour was to have fun, try on all our favorite songs again and to get inspired to make new music. It feels good to be all together again."

No Doubt has selected Paramore as the special guest for the tour. "What a dream tour! We couldn't be more excited to kick off 2009 by touring with a band like No Doubt,” said Paramore singer Hayley Williams.

"Get there early...this is going to a be a great night from the moment the lights go down," said bassist Tony Kanal.

The third act that will open the show will be shared among The Sounds, Janelle Monae and Bedouin Soundclash. Check your local listings for more specific information.

“Now that five years have passed, the excitement level for us is extremely high. We are so fresh and ready! I feel like a kid again when rehearsing these songs,” said drummer Adrian Young.

The 2009 No Doubt Summer Tour will be produced by Live Nation and will include stops in both the U.S. and Canada. The band last toured in 2004, co-headlining with Blink 182.

Tour dates and on sale information will be announced soon. Check www.nodoubt.com for the most up to date tour news.

***I haven't seen No Doubt on tour since 1996 when they were out with Bush and the Goo Goo Dolls. Hopefully ticket prices aren't astronomical and I can take in one of their shows.***

01/21 - Website Wednesday: Blip.fm

What are you listening to and why?

Those are the questions Blip.fm wants you to answer.

Blip.fm is essentially like Twitter, but for music. This website is a place where you sign-up for an account to be your own DJ. You can search for songs and add a short blurb of text explaining why you chose the song. (i.e. "Blister in the Sun" by Violent Femmes -- This song always makes me happy no matter what mood I am in.)

Your blip stream is playable, so you can listen to your music anytime. Another feature is being able to view the blips from other Blip.fm users and give props to them if you like what they are playing.

The only downside is that there are times you will search for a particular song and the site can't find it. I am not sure what websites their search technology skims, but it is limited at times.

That said, it is fun and free, so I suggest giving it a go.

DevilDriver Have Commenced Recording Their Fourth Album

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

New York, NY: DevilDriver have commenced recording their fourth, as-yet untitled album. The band –vocalist Dez Fafara, bassist Jon Miller, guitarists Jeff Kendrick and Mike Spreitzer and drummer John Boecklin—are holed up in Edge of the Earth studios in Los Angeles, working with producer Logan Mader (Five Finger Death Punch, Gojira, Divine Heresy). The fourth album follows DevilDriver, The Fury of Our Maker's Hand and The Last Kind Words, all of which earned the band a fiercely loyal legion of fans across the globe. It also marks the band's re-signing with Roadrunner Records, their longtime label home.

Both DevilDriver and Roadrunner are thrilled to continue their successful working relationship. Roadrunner Senior VP of A&R Monte Conner said, “I am thrilled to welcome DevilDriver back to the Roadrunner family. Dez Fafara and Roadrunner have quite a history together and we are happy to be going back into the trenches with him yet again. I’m extremely proud of DevilDriver’s steady ascent over the course of their first three Roadrunner albums. They continue to evolve and grow with each new record and I know this next album will be the best thing DevilDriver have ever made.” Fafara concurs, saying, "I'm proud to say that DevilDriver has resigned with Roadrunner records worldwide. My friend and A&R rep Monte Conner and the entire staff have been like family to me since. 1996 and I am looking forward to many, more years of working together and putting out music."

Two Songs I am Loving Right Now...

Linking Park - Leave Out All the Rest
Makes you think. I can identify with many-o-line on this track.

Shinedown - Call Me
There isn't an official video for this song as of yet, so I found the following on YouTube. It's all about the lyrics anyway.
